 One of the less talked about topic in our country before, but is now gaining attention from advocates today, the Mental Health. There are some factors why talking about your mental state is like a taboo before, isa sa mga reason is that, when you approach a Psychiatrist you’re branded with mental illness already or they consider you as ‘baliw’ agad, that is why a lot of Filipinos don’t consider Psychiatrist when they are having issues with themselves, and most especially about their state of mind.

Now that our nation and the world is experiencing the pandemic crisis due to COVID-19, moreover the quarantine and lockdown, a lot of people tend to experience stress, uneasiness, worry, fear, and whole lot of emotions, that is why Mental Health is being raised by different advocates. Just recently, the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) did an online press briefing to give the status of the institution and to promote one of their programs which is the “Tara Usap Tayo” hotline, where they urges people to call and converse with the doctors of NCMH.

Ilan din sa mga nag-aadvocate about Mental Health are the Barretto sisters (Julia and Claudia). In a podcast or youtube channel na entitled Mindgames, run by Claudia at kung saan si Julia Barretto ay naging guest ay bravely ini-open and shared her experiences, and kung ano ang pinagdadaanan niya upang ma-overcome ito. 

Binahagi rin nya ang mga nararanasan nya tuwing magkakaroon siya ng anxiety at panic attack. Sabi pa ni Julia na marami na siyang awareness na pinagdaanan, sabi pa niya “you also have to help yourself try to find out what works for you. I’ve also just been blessed that I’ve been surrounded by people who totally know how to deal with me when I get an attack.”

Siguro ito na ang pinakabrave na ginawa ni Julia Barretto, ang sabihin na sya rin ay nagkakaroon ng anxiety at panic attack at aminin na may pagkakataon na kailangan nya ng tao o bagay na panghahawakan. You can watch the podcast sa youtube na Mindgames by Claudia.

Hindi biro ang depression at maraming tao at organisasyon ang handing tumulong kung ikaw ay nahaharap sa ganitong sitwasyon. Unang-una na dito ang inyong kamag-anak o kaibigan pero kung talagang hindi mo kaya may mga grupo o organisasyon tulad ng National Center for Mental Health na handang makinig sayo.
