Kokoy, Eijah, JC and Tony |
Pardon
me this Divalicious Showbiz Blah columnist for being so unoriginal but let me start
this one with a thank you for all the love.
Yes,
to all my well-wishers, family, friends and entertainment writing colleagues, editors,
mentors, former officemates and more, you made me feel your love on my natal
day. It was indeed an overwhelming experience to know that indeed, the diva that
you love is not just a branding but for real.
Speaking
of overwhelming, utang-uta at urat na urat na ba kayo sa left and right na Boys
Love drama payanig? Or just like the little Ms. Claudia in “Interview With The
Vampire,” ang emote niyo pa rin ay “I want some more.”
So
far, ang on top of the BL Drama pyramid ay ang Gameboys, mula sa Idea First
Company sa direksyon ni Ivan Payawal.
Why
it works? Siempre pa dahil sa undeniable chemistry at husay umarte ng lead stars
nito, sina Kokoy De Santos bilang Gavreel at Elijah Canlas bilang Cairo.
At
his most charming si Kokoy and benta ang pa-coy at innocent vibe ni Elijah.
Panalo
how the millennials use their laptops, gadgets and social media platforms to strike
a conversation.
At
ang pinakabenta sa Gameboys so far, the kilig is real! You will literally root
for Gavreel sa kanyang quest na kyondiin at paibigin si Cairo at you feel Cai
every time a surprise character appears sa developing friendship nila ni Gav.
Why
it rocks? Tony Labrusca who is so ruggedly handsome and super burgis as Xavier
and the parang ang mabilis ma-fall at maaring I am not that innocent na si JC
Alcantara is upper class matinee idol ang arrive at looks.
What
I liked most about this BL offering is para esiyang mini me of “Ang Sayaw ng
Dalawang Kaliwang Paa” na may pa-homage sa poetry written by female literary
icons. My gosh, a BL with a Benilda Santos poem as a major plot anchor spells
must see all over.
Guapo
Almedralas.
Alcantara.
May
Playground, ang “Taguan,” na written and directed by Jose Jeffrey Camanag with the
Maestro Jesse Lucas as its musical director. Naka-first episode na sila and they
are shooting more episodes soon.
Christian and Clifford Pusing bilag Zach.
Mukhang
BL dramas are here for good kaya dapat talaga magpa-galingan sila.
