Darna ni Jane at Pedro Penduko ni Matteo, may saysay pa ba?

 How the people in the US, supposedly the most powerful nation in the world, will celebrate this special day, of course we will know in various social media platforms. We all know that July 4 is the American Independence Day.

If I remember it right, there was a time that the Filipino-American day is a cause for celebration in this Republic of ours. Of course, most people are not too embracing of any occasion that requires mass attendance because the COVID 19-pisting veerus, refuses to leave the archipelago. Despite the oh so many loans acquired by the gobiyerno nacional from this is that funding agency that is supposedly earmarked for the COVID 19 relief, one wonders, with the so many millions of dollars in the government coffers, where did all these loans go? 

Matteo is the new Pedro Penduko

Kaya nga minsan, parang ang bongga sana talaga kung merong mga tunay na super hero para nga matapos na ang naghaharing kasamaan, hindi ba naman?

Kaso, relevant pa ba sa kasalukuyang panahon ang mga tulad nina Darna at Pedro Penduko? May pag-asa pa ba talaga silang inihahatid sa masang Pilipino na sa kasalukuyan ay tulirong-tuliro on how they will make ends meet?

Si Jane de Leon, ang millennial Darna, walang kasiguraduhan kung kailan natin maririnig na isigaw ang “Ding, ang bato, dali” at mas lalong matatagalan pa bago natin masisilayan kung may pagbabago nga sa suot ni Narda pag siya ay ang mythical heroine na.  Ang bra ba ni Jane ay may magic bituin pa rin para hindi bumakat ang mga utong? Ang panty ba ay parang may kurtina pa rin para naman hindi masyadong halata kung ang bagong Darna nga ay pwede ring tawaging bagong Tambok Queen?

Jane, nabantilwan. ang lipad ng bagong Darna?

Ang mas nakakabaliw na katotohanan sa dapat na bagong reincarnation of the Mars Ravelo made iconic character na binigyang buhay na nina Vilma Santos, Nanette Medved at Anjanette Abayari to mention a few, at sina Angel Locsin at Marian Rivera naman sa telebisyon, ang film outfit na gagawa nito, ang kanyang mother network sa Mother Ignacia, kahit pa nga makuha nila ang numerong kailangan nila sa members of the House of Representatives, sigurado ba tayong ang Pangulo, will not exercise his power to veto it?

And if that happens, paano na si Darna at ang dapat sanang naging newly minted millennial star? Gone with the wind, gone in 60 seconds and lost in space na ba ang kanyang karerang hindi man lang nag-take off?

And what about Matteo Guidicelli’s Pedro Penduko? May mananalig pa ba na we need a hero like him? Ang mga millennial pa ba, would they care about a hero na for sure, hindi man lang nila kakilala?

What does Pedro Penduko stand for ba talaga? What makes him a hero? And why must he be given a millennial reboot?  Will they make him like billionaire Bruce Wayne now? O gagawin ba siyang mutant na may kakaibang tibay at lakas? O will it stick to the original vision of Francisco Coching, the National Artist for Literature (posthumously awarded) as a “normal human being who has no superpowers, but is resourceful and quick-witted in battling evil forces.”

Well, well, well…. aabangan pa ba natin si Jane de Leon bilang Darna at si Matteo Guidicelli bilang Pedro Penduko, o mas gugustuhin na lang nating mag-piko at mag-kandirit o kaya magmataray with matching pamewang na there are more better things to do.
