As of this writing, we are still in ECQ or Enhanced
Community Quarantine. The Metro Manila
mayors are supposed to have a meeting to discuss the possible extension of ECQ
until June 15.
If that happens that would mean three months of lost of
income for basic wage earners and everyone else who lost their jobs while in
lockdown. Meanwhile, the testing being done by the Department of Health to find
out if less Pinoys are being infected leaves much to be desired.
The lost of income has taken its toll on the general
public. Even if the government promised financial assistance, not everyone is
able to benefit from it. Hindi naman lahat ay nakatanggap mg ayuda.
Kaya walang magawa ang mga tao kundi maghanap ng pwede
nilang pagkaabalahan habang nakakulong sa kanilang mga bahay. Okay sana ang
panonood ng TV, lalo na kung may cable channel ka. Pwede kang manood kahit
lumang pelikula or replay ng isang TV show.
Sa pagpanaw ng batikang director na si Peque Gallaga, sana
ay may makaisip na ipalabas sa TV ang mga movies na kanyang ginawa bilang tribute sa visionary director.

Kabilang sa mga dakilang obra ng yumaong director ay
award-winning Oro Plata Mata na prinodyus ng Experimental Cinema of the
Philippines. Ang pelikulang pinagbidahan nina Joel Torre at Sandy Andolong ay
entry ng Pilipinas sa 2nd Manila International Film Festival noong 1983 kung saan ito ay nagwagi
ng Special Jury Prize.
Ang Oro, Plata, Mata ay isinulat ni Jose Javier Reyes and
is considered to be Gallaga’s most significant contribution sa Philippine
cinema.
Kwento ito ng dalawang mayamang pamilya sa Negros noong
World War II at kung paano sila nag-cope sa mga pagbabagong idinulot ng giyera.
The movie took the lion’s share of the awards in the 1983 Gawad
Urian where it won Best Picture, Best Direction (Peque Gallaga), Best
Cinematography (Rody Lacap), Best Production Design (Rodell Cruz at Don Escudero),
Best Music (Toto Gentica) at Best Sound Ramon Reyes.

Winner din ito ng Best Supporting Actress award para kay
Liza Lorena sa 1983 Film Academy Awards, gayundin ang Best Production Design
para kina Rodell Cruz at Don Escudero.
Noong 2013, sa tulong ng ABS-CBN Film Archives in partnership
with Central Digital Lab ay nai-restore at muling nagkaroon ng commercial run
for a limited period of time ang Oro Plata Mata. It was also released sa DVD.
Ang isang controversial film na ginawa ng yumaong director
ay ang Scorpio Nights (released in 1985 starring Daniel Fernando, Anna Marin,
and Orestes Ojeda) which played a key role in defining the sex film of the
decade.
